Schmalkalden (dpa / th) - The throwing of a net with oranges brought down a 38-year-old shoplifter in a grocery store in Schmalkalden.

The thrower missed the thief on Thursday, as the police announced on Friday.

The man then slipped on the thrown fruit when the thrower grabbed his arm.

The shoplifter had previously refused to have his backpack checked when leaving the store.

A married couple had observed the situation.

The man decided to help the cashier by tossing the oranges.

The 38-year-old got up after the fall and fled.

Shortly afterwards he turned himself in.
