On Thursday, about 100 employees at the hospital in Hudiksvall received their first dose of Moderna's vaccine.

In the evening, however, Apoteket informed that the vaccine had been transported at a temperature below the recommended limit of -40 degrees.

According to the Swedish Public Health Agency, there is nothing to say that it would pose a health risk, but on the other hand, it must be investigated whether the protective effect of the vaccine may have weakened and whether those who took the dose must take it.

300 doses in quarantine

- We apologize for what happened and consider it an accident at work.

We assume that the cause of the incorrect handling is investigated and that it will not happen again.

According to the information we have, the worst that can happen is that the vaccine is ineffective, and then we will offer new vaccination, says Tina Mansson Söderlund, Deputy Director of Health and Medical Services.

300 doses remain, but the Gävleborg Region is now quarantining these pending investigation.
