It is not well received by many EU countries how Germany and France, in a know-it-all manner, are trying to suppress the debate about a uniform EU vaccination certificate that should enable free travel to other member states as soon as possible.

“Much too early.” “That just unsettles you.” “First we have to know whether people who have been vaccinated cannot pass the virus on after all.” This has been the sound of German and French politicians in Brussels since Monday.

Everything is correct.

And none of the numerous governments from southern and central Europe who are demanding a uniform European vaccination certificate are so naive as not to know.

But the debate must now take place.

Everyone knows how tenacious and slow the EU bureaucracy will be, once the time comes.

At some point in February it should be clear whether vaccinated people can also be vectors - that is not to be expected.

Then it should also be clear whether the vaccine will also work against the mutants from Great Britain and South Africa - that is to be expected.

At the latest when the scientific findings are available, the EU vaccination certificate must enter the critical phase.

If a German wants to travel to Spain in the sun with the new EU vaccination certificate at Easter, he should be able to do so.

In any case, older or chronically ill people are likely to be affected by this in April.

After often months of isolation, you would have a piece of freedom back.

That would be great!

And the data protection with such sensitive information?

Anyone who sees their privacy compromised does not need to use the new document.

And the danger of a "two-class society" made up of vaccinated and unvaccinated people?

The elderly and the sick should be allowed to travel as early as possible.

A few months later, everyone should be able to enjoy traveling anyway.

The vaccination certificate should therefore not be a material for excited screamers and pathological jealous hammers in social networks.

In addition: If non-vaccinated people want to travel to Spain for Easter, they will probably be able to do so too: With a negative PCR test and a few days of quarantine.

Democracy does not mean equalization.

Democracy means openness: if there are opportunities for a better life, every individual should be able to take advantage of them.
