Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - In the case of unused student tickets due to corona, families should be reimbursed their own share according to the will of Baden-Württemberg's Minister of Education, Susanne Eisenmann (CDU).

Because the students could not use their tickets in January because of the Corona resolutions to close the schools, they would have to receive compensation, Eisenmann told the "Heilbronner Voice" and the "Mannheimer Morgen" (Friday).

As early as the first lockdown in spring 2020, the state reimbursed the parents for two months' contribution for the student tickets, as the papers reported.

At that time, the state subsidized the tickets nationwide with 36.8 million euros.

According to the CDU traffic expert Thomas Dörflinger, the money should go to the local public transport company again this time.

The families would be relieved by getting the next student monthly ticket for free as a replacement for January.

Eisenmann also said that she also wanted to advise on the reimbursement of daycare fees within the state government.

As in the previous year, the state would have to contribute to the costs if municipalities or independent organizations waive parental contributions for closed day care centers.

"Parents are not allowed to sit on the fees if the facilities are closed for weeks," said Eisenmann.

The state and municipalities would have to give the parents a helping hand.
