Rheinbach (dpa / lnw) - A police patrol car collided with an oncoming car on a country road in Rheinbach near Bonn on Tuesday.

The 38-year-old driver of the car suffered life-threatening injuries according to initial findings, as the police said.

According to a police spokesman, she was trapped in her vehicle and had to be rescued by the fire department.

She was then taken to the hospital.

The two police officers, aged 24 and 29, suffered a shock and were also injured in hospital.

They had been on a mission with flashing lights and high speed - a man had rioted on a gas station.

An accident recording team from the Cologne police took over the investigation at the accident site.
