Kerpen (AP) - In a fire in a tree house in the Hambach Forest, a man was injured on Monday evening.

He was hospitalized with burns, the police said.

Details of the cause of the fire and the identity of the injured were initially unclear.

The fire was not extinguished until late Monday evening.

"Barricades on the paths hinder the extinguishing work," said a police spokesman.

The Hambach Forest is a symbol of the conflict between climate protectors and the coal industry.

There are frequent incidents in the area.

The vigil tent at Hambacher Forst was only burned out at the end of December.
