North Korea's Chairman of the State Council Kim Jong-un said, "The five-year goal for economic development has been tremendously short of almost all sectors."
Today (6th), Chosun Central Broadcasting reported that Chairman Kim gave an opening speech at the 8th Congress of the Korean Workers' Party held in Pyongyang yesterday.
In his opening remarks, Chairman Kim said, "I am confident that this convention will be a stepping point for a remarkable leap forward in the struggle for strengthening development and socialist feat of our Party, strengthening national power and improving people's lives."
Chairman Kim also added, "We thoroughly guaranteed stable quarantine amid the global health crisis last year.
The 8th Labor Party Congress is North Korea's official top decision-making body.
In North Korea under the leadership of the Labor Party, the'direction key' for all state administration, including the establishment of national routes, strategies, and policies, is determined through the party conference.
Earlier, North Korea announced a bold policy, such as proposing a plan to establish the'Democratic Federal Republic of Korea' at the 6th Party Congress in 1980, and stipulating the'Byeongjin Route for Economic and Nuclear Force Construction' at the 7th Party Congress in 2016.
Accordingly, attention is paid to what lines and policies will be declared toward the US administration, which is newly launched at the end of this month, and what comments will be made regarding the frozen inter-Korean relations.
In addition, in this event, leaders from the leadership, such as the reorganization of the Labor Party and the change of generations, who will lead the Kim Jong-un regime over the next five years will be held.
