The Iraqi President, Barham Salih, stressed yesterday that there is a need for a new political contract that enables Iraqis to build a state with full sovereignty and addresses the accumulated mistakes that led to the cracking of the existing system of governance.

Yesterday, the Iraqi News Agency (INA) quoted Saleh as saying, during his participation in the memorial ceremony for the killing of the leaders of victory in Baghdad, which was held by the Popular Mobilization Authority, that this will not be achieved without reforms and addressing the defects, in order to change the reality of Iraqis and achieve a decent life. Befitting them.

He pointed out that «there are those who want the Iraqis to be preoccupied with internal conflicts that drain them, weaken and threaten their entity.

And he indicated that "Iraq lives in extremely complex and sensitive conditions, in light of regional challenges and economic crises that require everyone to look at them in a spirit of national responsibility, restraint and not allow anyone to tamper with the country's capabilities."

He added, "An independent and fully sovereign Iraq is a decision, and a will that abides by the reference of the state and the constitution."

He pointed out that «Iraq faces grave challenges and important entitlements, most notably early and fair elections, far from fraud or manipulation of the will of the Iraqis to choose their representatives, initiate reforms, strengthen security services, and control fugitive weapons.

Iraq lives in very complicated conditions.
