Berlin (dpa / bb) - A person was seriously injured in the fire of a Christmas tree in an apartment in the Berlin district of Baumschulenweg.
He suffered severe burns and was taken to a hospital, a fire department spokesman said on Thursday.
The tree caught fire on Wednesday evening in an apartment on the first floor of a residential building in Eschenbachstrasse.
The emergency services quickly got the fire under control.
The flames did not spread to surrounding furniture.
The cause of the fire was still unclear on New Year's Eve.
