Sinsheim (AP) - Second division soccer team Greuther Fürth has thrown favorite TSG 1899 Hoffenheim out of the competition in the DFB Cup.

The Franconians won 7: 6 on penalties on Tuesday evening (2: 2, 2: 2, 1: 1) and made it to the second round of the Cup against the Bundesliga club (2/3 February).

Sebastian Ernst (21st) and Marco Meyerhöfer (46th) scored the goals for the outsider in front of the corona-related empty ranks.

Paul Seguin could have made the decision earlier from the penalty spot (90 + 4), but missed.

For TSG, despite goals from Andrej Kramaric (13th) and Kevin Akpoguma (49th), it put a bit of a damper on the short Christmas break.
