London (AP) - Despite criticism of its "The Crown" series, Netflix does not want to show any clues in the episodes that point to the fictionality of the content, according to media reports.

"We have always presented" The Crown "as a drama, and we have confidence in our viewers that they will understand it as fiction based on historical events," said the streaming service according to the British "Mail on Sunday".

"So we don't plan - and see no need - to add a disclaimer," Netflix said.

The British culture and media minister Oliver Dowden had previously announced that he would write to the US streaming service.

"I'm afraid that a generation of viewers who have not seen these events could take fiction for fact," he told the Mail on Sunday.

According to insider sources, members of the royal family are said not to have been happy about the current season of "The Crown", in which the marital problems of Prince Charles and Princess Diana play a major role.
