This is, according to the Sud Sdmis union, one of the first cases handled in Lyon by the courts "with the support of evidence from pedestrian cameras" with which some crews have been equipped since the summer of 2019. Monday, two men were sentenced to nine months and seven months in prison before the criminal court for violence and insults on a young woman and the Rhône firefighters during a more than complicated morning intervention.

On October 18, in the morning, firefighters were called to help a young woman, unconscious on the ground, in Rillieux-la-Pape.

On their arrival, the crew were greeted by two young hooded men and a group standing in their way.

Their intervention had been hampered and the firefighters insulted and jostled by these young people refusing to come to the aid of the young woman.

The victim had drunk too much, they said in court, and did not need to be rescued.

A filmed scene

The scene was played out under the watchful eye of the crew's pedestrian camera, triggered by the operation manager who felt that the situation on the ground was going to degenerate.

In court on Monday, one of the battered firefighters recalled that he should not "have to fight to rescue someone", according to

Le Progrès,

and that it was his mission to do that day , the balance sheet of the young woman, to which one of the defendants admitted "having put pies" to wake her up.

The two men, one of whom was in a state of recidivism and has already been convicted twelve times in the past, returned to detention after the trial.

A third man, prosecuted for "not assisting anyone in danger" for having filmed the scene in order to publish it on Snapchat, was sentenced to four months in prison.

"The support of the pedestrian cameras of the firefighters was decisive in obtaining this conviction to meet our expectations," reacted Monday evening the South Sdmis union, whose representatives attended the hearing, alongside other firefighters came to support their attacked colleagues.
