In an interview with SVT Nyheter, the opposition leader says that she sees the meeting with Linde as positive.

- Sweden is one of the most committed countries.

I am sure that the Swedish government will react to our demands for increased sanctions.

And that they put financial pressure on Lukashenko, so that the violence from the police can end, says Svetlana Tichanovskaya.

The discussion revolved around the type of support Sweden can offer the opposition movement.

- It applies to continued sanctions to operate in the EU and to include more people who are responsible for the violence, and also include companies, Ann Linde tells SVT Nyheter.

Sweden could help redirect aid so that there are no government organizations from the EU.

- Sweden is one of the largest donors and an opportunity to influence.

It is important that Belarus feels that they have Sweden's support and it is important to meet to see what kind of support they need to become a democratic country, says Ann Linde and continues:

- I must be clear that we demand an end to all violence and that all political prisoners be released, says Ann Linde.

"Raise the rhetoric"

Support from outside parties is important for the Belarusians.

- The escalation of violence has forced us to ask those countries that are not unaffected by our situation to raise the rhetoric and strengthen the demands on Lukashenko, to stop the violence, says Svetlana Tichanovskaya.
