The former governor of Lombardy Roberto Maroni has been acquitted in the Supreme Court of the charge of disturbed freedom of the enchantments.

This was decided by the sixth criminal section of the Supreme Court, after a council chamber held this afternoon, canceling without postponement the sentence by which the Milan Court of Appeal, in November 2019, had sentenced Maroni to one year in prison. 



The former Northern League leader had been held by the appellate judges responsible for the crime of 'disturbed freedom of the spells in relation to the assignment of a position in the regional research body Eupolis to his then collaborator Mara Carluccio.



The Supreme Court, on the other hand, considered, with this evening's ruling, the offense contested cannot be configured in relation to the conduct not of a tender procedure, understood as a selective mechanism of competition and competition between candidates, but of a mere comparison of profiles professionals of individuals who were unaware of the internal selection process.

The other defendants in the trial were also acquitted: Giacomo Ciriello, former head of the political secretariat of Maroni, Andrea Gibelli, former secretary general of Pirellone and Mara Carluccio.



In the opinion of the Supreme Judges, the contested offense - concurrence in troubled freedom of enchantments - cannot be configured.

Maroni had been sentenced on appeal to one year of imprisonment and a € 450 fine.
