On Wednesday evening, the Pantin mosque closed its doors.

It was one of the announcements of the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin.

The Pantin mosque closed its doors on Wednesday evening for six months.

The authorities question the personality of the imam, officiating in the place of worship, but also the sharing on social networks of a video of a parent of a student from the college of Bois d'Aulne, in Conflans- Sainte-Honorine.

In this video, the father of a student is indignant at the course on freedom of expression given by Samuel Paty, denouncing in particular the viewing of caricature of the Prophet Muhammad by Charlie Hebdo.

Ten days later he will be assassinated by an 18-year-old young man.

"We pay for what we haven't done"

On Wednesday evening, barely the preaching of the Imam finished, the faithful hurry not to exceed the time of the curfew.

The faces were closed, the atmosphere heavy during this last prayer.

"We are sad, we are paying for what we did not do. Mr. President, please, with all due respect, give the order to reopen our mosque. We have it. used to pray there, we do nothing wrong ", confides a faithful.

"There are no other mosques here, I live ten minutes away. If it's closed, where am I going to go?" Continues another.

Apologies from the head of the mosque 

At the end of the sermon, the president of the Pantin mosque, M'hammed Henniche, spoke.

"He admitted his wrongs, explained that it was he who shared the video. He apologized in front of all the faithful, and we forgive him", explains Moussa, a young practitioner.

"It's human, it happens, we make mistakes. He told us that he would do what is necessary so that the mosque does not close immediately."

The mosque has two months to challenge this closure before the administrative court.

An appeal has already been filed by the Muslim Federation of Pantin.

This emergency administrative procedure requires the court to rule within 48 hours and requests the suspension of the prefectural decree.
