On Tuesday, Heathrow Airport began offering its passengers rapid tests for covid-19 as restrictions on the UK increased from many countries.

The Swedish company Swedavia now says that it is not entirely impossible that tests may also be offered at Swedish airports.

- When it comes to Swedavia's airports, it is the case that if healthcare authorities plan to carry out tests at airports in Sweden, we will ensure that it can take place at our premises.

If they make a decision, we will ensure that it is implemented, says Ellen Laurin.

Investigating opportunities

She explains that Swedavia looks at how airports in other countries have done and what decisions their authorities have made.

- We are investigating various possibilities and alternatives for how testing could then be made possible at the airport, says Ellen Laurin.

No decisions made

The rules for entry look different for different countries and change in line with the spread of infection.

At present, Swedavia cannot provide any information regarding corona tests at their airports in Sweden.

- There are no decisions made at the moment, but we continue to look at it.

We do not close doors, concludes Ellen Laurin.

Swedavia operates ten of Sweden's largest airports, including in the Stockholm area, Gothenburg, Malmö and Umeå.
