Rennes conceded a draw on Friday (1-1) on the field of the red lantern Dijon and provisionally led the Ligue 1 at the end of the extreme match counting for the 7th day of Ligue 1.

The Breton club is thus placed under the threat of its immediate pursuers Lille and Lens, opposed Sunday in the northern derby, as well as PSG, traveling to Nîmes in the evening (9 p.m.).

Rennes remain unbeaten in the French league with four wins and three draws, while having the best attack (15 goals).

But they failed to build up confidence before hosting the Russian club Krasnodar in the Champions League on Tuesday, a competition that the Breton club is playing for the first time in its history.

Martin Terrier, transferred this summer from Lyon for 12 million euros, nevertheless opened the scoring quickly enough by scoring his first goal for Rennes in the 24th minute.

He took over a receding center delivered by Hamari Traoré, who had stolen the ball from Annibal Chala.

This advantage, which rewarded a good start, should have put Rennes in good shape for the rest of the match, whereas previously Benjamin Bourigeaud had been the first to call on goalkeeper Saturnin Allagbé (15).

If the Bretons have then shown realism, it is also that the training of Julien Stéphan has hardly obtained clear opportunities.

After half-time, Nayef Aguerd, with a header, just missed the frame on a corner, while a ball from Adrien Hunou hit the crossbar (85).

In additional time, Allagbé interposed on a final recovery from the head of Daniele Rugani, who was playing his first match with his new club, receiving a free kick from Flavien Tait (90 + 4).

And defensively, the Rennes have been put in difficulty several times by a Burgundian formation which reacted well.

- Exploit by Mama Baldé -

In the end, it is not enough and Dijon, much better after half-time and which takes its second point of the season (two draws, five defeats), was able to obtain an equalizer deserved by Mama Baldé after a personal feat that saw the best of Nayef Aguerd and Daniele Rugani (54).

Previously the Dijonnais were threatening on a shot from Mehdi Chouiar passing just next (15) and failed to equalize for the first time with an attempt by Frédéric Sammaritano passing just above (45).

But if Rennes could not preserve its goal in advance, Julien Stéphan did not draw on the resources of its workforce either.

Steven Nzonzi and Damien Da Silva were suspended.

The French and Ivorian internationals, Eduardo Camavinga and Jérémy Doku like Jonas Martin appeared on the substitutes' bench at kick-off, allowing reservists like Clément Grenier or even Flavien Tait and Romain Del Castillo to have playing time.

Camavinga and Martin only entered in the 64th minute instead of Del Castillo and Grenier and Doku in the 80th minute.

Finally, defenders Faitout Maouassa, Gerzino Nyamsi and goalkeeper Alfred Gomis were forfeited due to injury.
