A peacekeeper from the UN Mission in Mali was killed (Minusma) Thursday, October 15, in an explosion in the northeast of the country.
Another was seriously injured, the statement said.
"At around 1:30 p.m. (local and GMT) a Minusma Force vehicle struck a mine or an explosive device, about 50 km from the city of Kidal. The explosion resulted in the death of a peacekeeper. Another , seriously injured, was evacuated ", according to the Minusma which does not specify their nationality.

But a teacher from the town near Anefis told AFP that it was a supply convoy escorted by Egyptian peacekeepers.
"Minusma will not be intimidated by these attacks, and remains determined to support the people and the Malian government in their efforts to bring lasting peace to the country," said its leader, Mahamat Saleh Annadif, quoted in the statement.
The Minusma is the most costly in human lives of the current UN peacekeeping operations, with more than 220 dead since its deployment in 2013, including more than 130 in hostile acts.
