China News Service, Toronto, September 13 (Reporter Yu Ruidong) Aline Chrétien, wife of former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien, was in Chavignigan, Quebec on September 12, local time. Passed away in his hometown at the age of 84.

The Chretien family disclosed this to the media on the 13th and said that Irene passed away peacefully with her family.

Jean Chretien, two years older, married Irene in 1957.

Three days ago, September 10 was the 63rd anniversary of their marriage.

What I talked about for the Canadian media is that during Irene’s Jade years, the two of them from my hometown met on the bus.

Both of them came from civilian families.

After getting married, Irene became her husband's lifelong partner and most trusted work consultant.

They have two sons and a daughter under their knees.

At the beginning of November 1995, a man who was later identified as having a mental disorder entered the Canadian prime minister's residence with a knife and approached the bedroom of then Prime Minister Chretien. Irene closed the door promptly and called the police when he found out.

Chretien said afterwards that he was lucky and expressed gratitude to Irene.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Governor Julie Payette respectively issued statements to express condolences to Irene.

Trudeau described Irene as a strong mother and dedicated wife.

"We owe Irene a great favor," he said.

Chretien was elected to the Federal House of Representatives for the first time in 1963, entered politics, and served as cabinet minister in the Liberal government of Pierre Trudeau, father of the current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

In 1990, Chretien became the leader of the Liberal Party.

Chretien was friendly to China during his tenure as Prime Minister of Canada from 1993 to 2003. He led many large-scale delegations of governors and entrepreneurs to visit China.
