Three days ago, Tomas was walking calmly through a shopping center in Elda (

Alicante

) when he caught the attention of an agent of the

National Police

who was off duty.

His bearing and shape corresponded to the description that the Polish authorities had given just a week before to try to locate him.

In it, they warned of the dynamism of the illicit business to which it gave shape and of its size.

Tomas was not a common criminal.

The policeman recognized him instantly.

On him weighed a European arrest warrant for his belonging to the most dangerous criminal organization in

Poland,

which was also linked to different countries.

The 35-year-old criminal had chosen Alicante to establish his residence and, from the province, direct a network through which he has managed to 'export' more than

2,000 kilos

of marijuana to supply drugs to Europe, especially to the

United Kingdom

and

Poland

.

His job was to search for and buy marijuana on a large scale, prepare it, and get it out of the country for sale.

In addition, he directed the accounts of the organization in

Spain

with an iron fist

.

At the time of his arrest, Tomas had 1,000 euros in cash and three mobile phones with him, an unmistakable sign of the high lifestyle he had and of his weight within the plot.

Everything related to him in Spain passed through his hands.

Tomas lived in a luxurious chalet and tried to be as inconspicuous as possible.

His day-to-day, according to research sources, consisted of injecting logistics into the network.

He was in charge of renting warehouses and premises to use as a drug store.

The narcotic substances that left for Europe were packed there and, in most cases, were real shipments.

He also rented cars to transport the stash.

Tomas's life was quiet, as demonstrated by the scenario in which he was arrested.

On the day of the arrest I was doing some shopping.

The agent who found out who it was gave the warning to his colleagues at the Elda Police Station.

Minutes later, several of his companions appeared there in uniforms and proceeded to arrest him.

He did not resist.

The police officers fully identified him and verified that, indeed, there was a European Detention and Surrender Order for Extradition issued by the authorities of his country of origin.

Tomas faces a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison for belonging to a criminal organization dedicated to the trafficking of narcotic substances and psychotropic substances.
