The spokesperson for the health sector in the UAE: Dr. Farida Al Hosani.

The UAE government held an exceptional media briefing yesterday on developments and cases related to the emerging coronavirus in the country (Covid-19), during which it announced the highest daily infection rate during the last four months, noting that the reasons for the increase in infections are due to the leniency in preventive measures. Such as physical spacing, wearing masks, and the non-compliance of some shopping centers and shops with the precautionary measures, which include the application of capacity, in addition to the negligence of private educational institutions, and their failure to apply isolation procedures, despite the controls set by the Ministry of Education.

In detail, the spokesperson for the health sector in the UAE, Dr. Farida Al Hosani, confirmed that 930 new cases of "Covid-19" were recorded during the past 24 hours, which is the highest daily number in four months.

This brings the total number of injuries recorded in the country to 76,911 injuries.

It also confirmed the registration of 586 new cures, bringing the total cases of recovery in the country to 67,945 cases, and the death of five people from the repercussions of the disease, bringing the total deaths to 398 people in the country.

She added, "We exceeded 900 cases a day, an increase equivalent to five times the number of cases registered a month ago from today," noting that 62% of the total injured are males, 38% are females, and 12% of cases and injuries during the past two weeks belong to individual citizens. And residents coming from outside the country, despite having negative results in the country of departure, according to the conditions, and 88% of the detected injuries were the result of contact and gatherings, including weddings, mourning occasions, work and breaking the quarantine protocol.

She added that 10% of the injuries were discovered through prior examination of the administrative and educational staff in schools, parents and students, who chose to return to schools, stressing that "the increase requires a pause with ourselves, and recalling all the achievements we have made during the past period thanks to our cooperation and commitment."

Al-Hosani explained that “the reasons for the increase in the number of daily cases are related to individual commitment. This includes the leniency of some individuals in preventive measures, such as physical distancing, wearing masks, continuing visits and gatherings in homes, or restaurants, and the failure of some shopping centers, shops and public facilities to the procedures. Precautionary measures, such as the application of capacity, physical distancing, and mandatory wearing of masks.

All this contributed to the recent increase in the number of cases, in addition to monitoring some individuals ’neglect of the emergence of pathological symptoms on them, and lack of medical response to them, with deliberate continued contact with others, and non-compliance with prevention.

She confirmed the negligence of a number of private educational institutions in the country, and the failure to apply isolation procedures and suspend studies for a period of 14 days after discovering cases in them, despite the controls and procedures set by the Ministry of Education for educational institutions, which led to the closure of schools, pointing out that there are also cases presented to the state. She developed symptoms later, which contributed to the spread of the virus locally, and the increase in the number of infections.

Al Hosani confirmed that "the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority has started with the emergency and crisis committees in the local Emirates to tighten supervision and inspection, and violators of the preventive measures will be held accountable, whether from individuals, commercial centers, or non-compliant restaurants," noting that "the recovery equation is very simple: either "We commit ourselves and the casualties decrease ... or we will tolerate, and their numbers increase."

And she stressed that "the balance between gradual recovery measures in all vital sectors coincides with the responsibility of all of us, individuals, families and institutions."

Al Hosani said: “Every person in contact with a positive case must apply the approved quarantine protocol, and not rely on the result of the negative examination that takes place after discovering the case as an excuse for him to return to his normal life, because the incubation period of the virus may last up to 14 days,” adding that "The 14th day of intercourse is the basis for the decision to leave the quarantine ... not the negative result of the examination."

She denied that the gradual opening of activities and the return of the study are related to the increase in injuries, stressing that "the UAE government has set all precautionary measures and requirements for the opening and return of the various sectors, and it is required to adhere to and adhere to their application, whether by individuals or institutions."

Al Hosani stressed the tightening of supervision and inspection, accountability for violators of the preventive measures, and the application of binding fines based on the decision of the Attorney General, noting that what is required of us as a society is to join hands more and cooperate more to achieve full compliance.

She said: "Your health is a trust, and we in the health sector are working hard for you, so be partners with us in limiting the spread of the virus."
