Xinhua News Agency, Moscow, September 4 (Reporter Zhang Xiao and Bai Xueqi) The reporter learned from the Chinese delegation that he is in Moscow participating in the Joint Meeting of Ministers of Defense of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Commonwealth of Independent States and Collective Security Treaty Organization. Wei Fenghe met with Indian Defense Minister Rajnat Singh on the 4th.

Wei Fenghe said that the relations between the two countries and the armed forces have been severely affected by the border issue recently. It is very important for the two defense chiefs to exchange views face-to-face on relevant issues.

The cause and truth of the current tension on the border between China and India are very clear, and the responsibility lies entirely with India.

China’s territory cannot be lost. The Chinese military is fully determined, capable, and confident to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Both sides should earnestly implement the important consensus reached by Chairman Jinping and Prime Minister Modi and insist on solving problems through dialogue and consultation.

It is hoped that the Indian side will strictly abide by the series of agreements reached between the two sides, effectively strengthen the control of the front-line forces, refrain from provoking the current line of actual control, refraining from any actions that may cause the situation to heat up, and refraining from deliberately hyping and spreading negative information.

The two sides should focus on the overall situation of Sino-Indian relations and regional peace and stability, work together and meet each other halfway, and promote the current situation to cool down as soon as possible, and maintain peace and tranquility in the Sino-Indian border area.

Singh said that under the current situation, border peace and stability are of vital importance to bilateral relations. We should maintain open channels for dialogue at all levels of the military and diplomacy between the two sides, and resolve issues peacefully through dialogue and consultation.

It is hoped that the two sides will adopt a responsible attitude to achieve complete disengagement of frontline forces as soon as possible, avoid taking measures that escalate or complicate the situation, prevent differences from becoming disputes, and push the relations between the two countries and the armed forces back on track as soon as possible.
