According to TASS, Pompeo said this at a press briefing.

“We are closely coordinating with our transatlantic partners, and together we are considering the possibility of imposing serious targeted sanctions against anyone involved in human rights violations and harassment,” he said.

At the same time, the secretary of state added that the American side demands an immediate end to the violence against protesters and the release of "everyone who was unjustly detained."

Earlier, Reuters, referring to an anonymous official from the United States, wrote that the American side does not exclude the imposition of sanctions against Russia if it "openly interferes in the affairs of Belarus with the use of force."

In addition, the United States is considering sanctions against seven Belarusian citizens who, according to Washington, are involved in "falsification of the presidential elections" and "ill-treatment of peaceful protesters."
