Since June 16, Lille fans of smoking, sniffing and other drugs are likely to be fined 200 euros if they are caught by the police.

The device had also been tested in the cities of Rennes, Créteil and Marseille.

This Tuesday, the "package of drug use" was generalized to the entire national territory.

To mark the occasion, Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, had requested that coordinated police operations be organized in many regions, including Hauts-de-France.

It was sort of a national product launch.

For Gérald Darmanin, this new sanction against drug users, initiated by Nicole Belloubet in 2018, had to be known to all.

Suddenly, Tuesday evening, the police went to bang hard in neighborhoods known to harbor trafficking.

In Lille, it is not surprisingly the districts of Wazemmes, Faubourg de Béthune, boulevard de Metz and, more generally Lille-Sud, which have been targeted.

The most beautiful seizure at national level

During these three operations, "54 offenses [were] identified which gave rise to 5 arrests for trafficking or possession of narcotics, to fixed fines", assures the prefecture of the North.

Better still, the police were able to seize “1.2 kg of cannabis and 2 weapons”.

The most important take of the evening on all the operations carried out at the national level which resulted in the seizure of 4 kg of narcotics.

A few days earlier, the BAC du Nord had already raided a known deal point in Lille-Sud.

The police arrested three people and got hold of "90 grams of heroin, 20 grams of cocaine and 3,490 euros in assets as well as a weapon and ammunition" added the prefecture of the North.
