On Friday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the discovery of the largest natural gas field in the country's history, in the Black Sea.

In a speech at the ceremony announcing the discovery, he said that the entire exploration process was carried out with national capabilities, adding, "We do not have the slightest external dependency on the search and exploration work."

He also said, "God gave us a great potential for good in a place that was not considered."

Erdogan explained that "the Fatih exploration vessel discovered 320 billion cubic meters of natural gas reserves in the Tuna Well."

He stressed that the preliminary indications for the discovery of the largest gas field indicate a high probability of the existence of other fields in the same area.

He continued, "We have moved to the ranks of the most prominent countries in the world through the Al-Fateh ship, thanks to which we live with joy today, as well as the vessels of Yawuz and Al-Qanuni."

Erdogan also said that the inhuman world order that sees a drop of oil as more valuable than the flow of human blood "still prevails", stressing his country's determination to fundamentally solve the energy issue in our country.

The Turkish president pointed out that his country had conducted 9 drilling operations in deep waters in the Mediterranean and Black Bahrain via the "Al-Fateh" and "Yavuz" ships, and said, "We will not stop or rest until we are an energy exporting country."

Erdogan stressed that energy is of great importance in achieving national independence, in addition to being a major component of development.
