Khalid Al-Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs of Qatar, said that the only option to end the crisis in Libya is a political solution, which is what the State of Qatar is seeking to achieve.

Al-Attiyah added in an interview on the "Today's Meeting" program broadcast on Thursday evening that the instability of the situation in Libya greatly affects the neighboring countries and the whole region, he said.

He described the three-way Qatari-Libyan-Turkish meetings in Tripoli as fruitful, indicating that they discussed the best ways to preserve Libya's unity and reach a political solution.

Last Monday, the head of the Libyan Government of National Accord, Fayez al-Sarraj, discussed ways of military and security cooperation with Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and Qatari Minister of State for Defense Affairs Khaled Al-Attiyah.

The Turkish and Qatari ministers had arrived in Tripoli, and they discussed with Libyan officials the latest developments in the country and the military build-up in eastern Sirte and the Jufra region.

The tripartite meeting touched on areas of military and security cooperation, programs to build security and defense capabilities of the reconciliation government forces, and coordination mechanisms between the ministries of defense in the three countries.
