• Direct. Last minute about the coronavirus

This Saturday was the first day in almost four months in which the Covid-19 has not claimed any fatality . The announcement was made by the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, through her Twitter account: "Together we can ensure that this nightmare is not repeated."

According to data from the General Directorate of Public Health, which reports to the Ministry of Health, a total of 15,104 people had died until Friday in the region after falling ill with coronavirus. Most of the deaths were recorded in hospitals -9,351- and in residences -4,815- and the rest in private homes and other places, such as the street.

During the peak of the pandemic, up to 345 patients died in just 24 hours in Madrid health centers alone . To these figures should be added the deaths recorded in the nursing homes, whose information took weeks to provide and which is also not reported in daily records, but twice a week.

According to data from the Ministry of Social Policy, until last Tuesday 5,987 inmates in nursing homes for the elderly or disabled in the region had lost their lives after becoming ill with Covid-19 or with symptoms of having it. This figure differs by 1,172 people from that of the General Directorate of Public Health, a discrepancy that lacks an official explanation.

According to the latest balance, 213 people remain admitted to the hospital and 69 to the ICU, while overall, throughout the pandemic, healthcare has been provided to 47,335 patients. Another 34 patients were discharged, bringing the number of cured to 43,011 .
