From our correspondent in Washington,

These are two diametrically opposed approaches. On the one hand, the empathetic Democratic candidate spent more than an hour with the family of George Floyd in Houston. Joe Biden listened to them and heard their grief,  " said their lawyer.

On the other, the president, who poses as guarantor of the maintenance of law and order. On the eve of George Floyd's funeral, he arranged for a meeting with police officers at the White House.

There will be no dismantling of our police, " said Donald Trump. Our police have allowed us to live in peace and we want to make sure there are no bad actors in there and sometimes we see horrible things like the ones we have witnessed recently. But I say 99.9 or at least 99% of them are great people, and they have done record breaking work.  "

Joe Biden has said he is against dismantling the police or cutting their budgets. Democrats, on the other hand, wish to regulate police practices. They presented a bill to this effect on Monday, which should be quickly adopted by the chamber. But we do not know what will happen to the text in the Senate dominated by the Republicans.

According to Georges Floyd's family lawyer, Joe Biden spent more than an hour with her today in Houston. "He listened to them and heard their grief." Meanwhile, Donald Trump was gathering law enforcement officials from the White House. https://t.co/0symS6VkPs
