- Varya, how did you meet Oleg?
- I met my future husband a year ago in the office of my lawyer Sergey Badamshin. First we met Oleg once a week, then two, and then more and more - and it happened. The wedding will be this summer, we do not want to disclose the exact date.
- Will it be a big holiday or celebrate with your family?
- If not for quarantine, then there would be more people. But still this is a risk, even if quarantine is removed. Whenever possible, we try to invite only close friends and relatives.
- How is the preparation for the wedding?
- The most difficult thing is to find a place for celebration during a pandemic. But we’ll come up with something. We sew a dress to order, Oleg will have a beautiful purchased suit. Rings are also ordered.
The application was filed in such a turmoil! The fact is that I was at home, in isolation, almost did not go out. And submitting an application has become a real holiday for us.
- What do you feel now?
- I'm happy. I have never experienced such a bright, warm feeling inside.
“ You were released a year ago.” How are things going with work and study now?
- I work as a manager in the same place as before. In addition, I take part in volunteer activities and continue to engage in human rights work. I study remotely, and the next year I graduate from the university. Most likely I’ll go to graduate school. Everything goes on as usual.

- Do you live with Oleg or do you continue to live with your mother?
- While Oleg and I live with my mother. It's all about my dog Frekki - he is a very vulnerable boy and is nervous in an unfamiliar environment, to the point that even on a strange street he refuses to walk. So we are bringing him to Oleg’s apartment so that he can gradually master it.
Mom is happy. It seems to me that she would be glad if we remained to live with her further. But still I want my nest already.
- On June 2, you heard the news that the Ministry of Internal Affairs was asked to establish supervision of you. How it was?
- The inspector called me and said that there will be a trial on June 4. She simply gave the date, time and office number. At first I was confused, but then I immediately ran to court to see what they wanted from me. Now they want to impose restrictions until the year 2029. I will be required to check in twice a month and be at home from ten in the evening until six in the morning every day.
- And before that, what were your limitations?
- I was noted once a month and had to notify authorities in case of a change of place of work, place of study.
- What may be connected with the application for supervision?
- For me personally, the reason is not clear. By law, they come out with such a petition due to the fact that I have an article that involves such restrictions. But why now there is a tightening under these conditions, it is not clear. And in the document it is not motivated in any way.
- What will you do next?
- Tomorrow we will go to court, Oleg will protect me. In fact, I would very much like to let it all go, live without this story. I feel like a completely free person. And I want to leave the past in the past.
"In loved for the first time in my life"
- Oleg, tell us about Vara, what is she for you?
- I have not yet met a person who is so close to me. With her it is easy, calm, comfortable.
Sergey Badamshin, in whose office we met, worried for her for a long time, including because I am older than Varya. And I fell in love for the first time in my life! Enough time has passed since we met and I made an offer to Vara. Thank god she told me yes.
“ What do you think of the petition for the supervision of Varya for nine years?”
- To say that I am outraged is to say nothing. This is such an attempt to prevent Vara from forgetting her past. I already read the administrative lawsuit filed by the police, and I did not find any reason to apply such severe restrictions to her freedom against Vara. She is now studying, working, doing charity work.

Varya is getting married, fortunately for me. And here we have such a small nuance: the wedding, which will end before 22:00. I have no idea how this can be implemented. And she should spend her honeymoon at home, according to our police department.
- Tomorrow, June 4, a trial will be held. Will you protect Varia?
- Yes, as a lawyer and as a future husband. The first time I have to actually protect myself. And it will be doubly difficult for me.
- And why did you decide that tomorrow you will defend Varia?
“I'm sure it will be easier for me to find the right words.” After all, everything is connected with this person: my future life, all my thoughts.
Of course, I would like everything to take place within the framework of the law. And in the framework of the law, it is precisely police officers who need to substantiate their administrative lawsuit regarding restrictions. And, accordingly, since we have no reason to apply these measures, I hope that the court will refuse to restrict the time of movement. Because they in no way contribute to any kind of education.
- You were not notified that they want to impose restrictions on Varia?
- There was no notice and notification, despite the inspector having a phone number for Varya, she saw her. Although it was necessary to do this to the court and the very authorities that filed this administrative statement of claim, no one notified us until yesterday. In fact, they don’t give us time to prepare, they artificially create obstacles.
“ Could it be that those restrictions tighten even more?”
- By law - yes, if Varia violates at least those restrictions that will already be established by the court.
But I want to draw attention to the fact that those restrictions that were established during the period of parole and that were issued by the decision on parole were never violated. There is no information about this from the police.
- What are your future plans?
- Go to court tomorrow and defend against what is happening. The measures that they are trying to apply now, the limitations that they are trying to artificially create, in no way contribute to the further advancement of Varya in the field of human rights, and in the field of further education.
Whatever the court decides tomorrow, we will fight back to the last. We will appeal against any illegal actions. But, in any case, this will not affect the further development of our family.
