Already during the primary elections to nominate the Democratic candidate, the corona crisis put spikes in the wheel with canceled elections, deferred primary elections and a media focus that was somewhere else entirely.

In April, Bernie Sanders gave up to quit behind Joe Biden, but the 77-year-old has not been easy to reach with his messages when he can no longer tour and hold elections but is sitting in his home in isolation. Instead, President Trump has a completely different arena of daily press conferences where he gets to see and talk about how the country has defeated the virus.

But according to Ginna Lindberg, former US correspondent for Swedish Radio, both Trump and Biden have lost out on the crisis.

- Trump's best argument for the reelection campaign, that the economy has gone so well, is completely erased. Biden is 77 years old and belongs to the risk group. The fact that he is sitting in his basement reinforces the image that he is older. He is the oldest presidential candidate who has run.

“Great focus on health care”

Ginna Lindberg believes that it is obviously difficult to reach out with her election message when you are so physically constrained, and she does not think we will see any major elections in 2020. Another problem for Biden is that he does not have a formal role precisely now.

- He is not governor or senator. He is not part of the debate as a decision-maker, she says.

On the other hand, Ginna Lindberg believes that the subjects Joe Biden brings up will be important election issues.

- A changed economic policy, a major focus on health care and healthcare, these are topics that will be big.
