Dubai Municipality monitored two million and 653 thousand and 400 tons of imported food, during the period from the beginning of this year until April 30, it included 99 thousand and 590 food shipments, 589 thousand and 570 food products.

Iman Al Bastaki, Director of Food Safety Department in the municipality, stressed the concern for diversity in importing foodstuffs to the local market in order to enable consumers to obtain their needs from all types and components.

She said that the municipality applies the highest levels of food control to ensure its safety and compliance with the requirements, noting the development of smart systems, such as the "Food Watch" platform that allows tracking of food by checking the components and nutritional information for each product.

And she explained that «the platform contributes to facilitating the exchange of information between the control authorities and food establishments, the service providers of these institutions and consumers, through smart digital control and data analysis.

It is worth noting that the statistics for the first quarter of last year indicated the import of about 113 thousand and 237 food consignments, 648 thousand and 619 food products, with a total amount of two million 471 thousand and 989 tons of food.
