Law enforcement found the dead body of a newborn baby in a family garden on Friday. The macabre discovery took place in the village of Martinet, about twenty kilometers north of Alès, in the Gard.

According to the first elements of the investigation, a 16-year-old girl threw the child out the window after giving birth in secret. She was hospitalized. The child likely spent the night on the ground.

Homicide investigation initiated

The prosecution opened an investigation into intentional homicide against a minor under 15 years of age. An autopsy must be conducted Monday on the body of the infant. She must determine if he is stillborn or if his death is linked to the fall.
