During Wednesday's press conference, Housing Minister Per Bolund (MP) and Social Security Minister Ardalan Shekarabi (S) presented the temporary supplementary allowance for families with children who already receive housing allowance.

"As a housing minister, I am prepared to do what is necessary to prevent people from losing their homes," said Per Bolund.

Maximum SEK 1325 extra

The proposal for the temporary supplementary allowance corresponds to 25 percent of the household's already existing housing allowance. At most, the supplementary allowance can mean an increase of SEK 1325 per month for a family of children and according to Social Security Minister Ardalan Shekarabi no special application will be required.

Today, around 139,000 families with children receive housing allowances each month, and according to the government, more than 6 out of 10 single women with children.

The legislative amendment is proposed to apply from 1 July and the year out.
