“According to statistics, there is no increase in offenses committed in the family and household sphere,” TASS quotes the department’s response to the corresponding request.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in March more than 13 thousand such offenses were registered, which is 6.5% less compared to last year.

Moreover, in April, under the conditions of a self-isolation regime, the number of such unlawful acts amounted to almost 7.7 thousand, which is 23.4% less than last year's figures for this period.

At the same time, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that they abandoned the idea of introducing administrative arrest instead of a fine for persons under the article of the Administrative Code of Russia “Beating”, including for domestic violence.

“Such changes are considered inappropriate, because there is a disproportion in administrative responsibility and criminal responsibility,” the ministry explained.

Earlier, a psychologist at the Center for Psychological Assistance and the Violence.Net project, Nadezhda Fadeeva, in an interview with Inforeactor, commented on an increase in the number of cases of domestic violence during the period of self-isolation.
