The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs will help an 83-year-old Latvian citizen obtain a residence permit. Alexander Dmitriev, who lives with relatives in Moscow, will receive the documents necessary to obtain a permit.
If in the future he expresses a desire to acquire citizenship of the Russian Federation, he will be provided with full assistance. Last December, it was reported that the Latvia authorities announced their intention to expel from the republic more than 1 thousand Russian citizens. The deadline for applications for residence permits was December 31st.
