Shaped like a boat hull and dazzling white, the new viaduct by architect Renzo Piano will be topped with 43 light pylons, the number of victims of the 2018 drama .

The laying of the last stone gathered on Tuesday many political leaders, including the President of the Government. For Giuseppe Conte, this project is that of Italy, which knows how to recover. This opinion is shared by Alessandro Pitto, president of the Federation of Spediporto port companies.

We heard the sirens of all the ships in the port salute the laying of the last stone," explains Alessandro Pitto, joined by Juliette Gherbrant . And of course, for the city of Genoa, it is a very moving moment. Especially since we managed to keep the site in activity despite the epidemic !  "

50 workers in quarantine

The quarantine of 50 workers after the discovery of a Covid-19 case did not interrupt this extraordinary site, in activity day and night since April 2019. And which has become the model of Genoa.

“  Similarly, the sanitary measures adopted because of the epidemic could serve as an example for the resumption of all construction activities, suggests Alessandro Pitto . A recovery which, we hope, should now take place very quickly.  "

The viaduct is not quite finished. It is now necessary to asphalt it, to put lights and screens. It should be inaugurated in July.
