France recorded 642 new deaths from the emerging coronavirus, today, bringing the total deaths to 19,323 cases, making it the fourth highest in the world, but the number of people in hospitals decreased for the fourth consecutive day.


The Public Health Authority in France, in a statement, said that the total number of patients in intensive care units has decreased for the tenth consecutive day to reach 5,833, the lowest number since March 31.


France has been undergoing general isolation measures since March 17 as part of efforts to contain the disease, which was extended through May 11.
