Today, Saturday, Egypt recorded the highest daily death toll from infections and deaths from the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19), while Mauritania announced that the country was free of anyone infected with the virus that invaded many Arab countries.

The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population said that 188 new cases of the new Corona virus and 19 deaths were recorded.

According to a statement by the ministry’s spokesman, the total number of newly infected Coronavirus that was registered in Egypt as of today Saturday was 3032 cases, including 701 cases that were cured and discharged from isolation hospitals and 224 deaths.

To limit the spread of the virus, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly decided to completely close the country on the occasion of Sham El-Nessim Day next Monday.

The decision provides for the complete closure of shops, parks, public parks and beaches, in addition to stopping all public transportation, and stopping trips between cities and governorates.

On the other hand, the Mauritanian News Agency announced today that the country is free of any infection with the Corona virus. However, the Mauritanian Ministry of Health said yesterday that the number of confirmed cases amounted to seven, indicating that two cases had been recovered after they had undergone the required tests, while one death was recorded.

The stage of danger
In Tunisia, Minister of Health Abdel Latif Al-Makki said that his country has passed the stage of danger, but it is still facing a bumpy road in the face of the Corona pandemic.

"We got average results ... but we could have achieved better results," Al-Makki said in statements to a government radio, referring to the statistics of HIV infection in his country.

He pointed out that the quarantine will continue in another (not specified), to prevent the spread of the virus again.

On Friday, Tunisia's National Security Council decided to extend the comprehensive quarantine, which includes a partial curfew, until May 4.

As of yesterday, Friday, the number of HIV infections in Tunisia reached 864, including 37 deaths, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

Isolation and emergency
In Algeria, three people died, bringing the number of deaths to 367 deaths, in addition to 116 new injuries recorded.

Doctors in Algeria are still waiting to celebrate the passing of the critical period of the Covid-19 pandemic in the countries that have recorded the largest number of deaths so far on the African continent.

This comes as Prime Minister Abdelaziz Jarrad announced that Algeria will extend the period of general isolation measures for 10 days, ending on April 29, in an attempt to limit the spread of the Corona virus with the increasing number of deaths and confirmed cases.

In Morocco, three new deaths were announced, in addition to 121 new infections. The Moroccan authorities announced that the state of health emergency would be extended for another four weeks until May 20.

In Saudi Arabia, five new deaths were recorded, and 1132 injuries, bringing the total to 8264.

For its part, the Saudi Ministry of Interior announced today, Saturday, the addition of two new neighborhoods in the east of the Kingdom to a 24-hour curfew, starting from today until further notice to confront the Corona virus.

Injuries and deaths
As for Qatar, a new death has been recorded, bringing the number to eight deaths, in addition to 345 new injuries, bringing the number of injuries to 5008.

In Iraq, one death was recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 82, in addition to 31 new injuries.

In the Sultanate of Oman, one death and 111 new cases of coronavirus were recorded, bringing the number of people infected to 1180. The total number of people recovered reached 176, while the number of deaths reached six.

The Ministry called on all citizens to strictly adhere to the procedures of isolation, and to follow healthy habits when sneezing or coughing.

In Kuwait, 93 new injuries were announced.

In Sudan, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of 4 deaths from the Corona virus, bringing the total number to 10, in addition to recording 30 new infections, bringing the total number to 66 cases, 61 of which are in Khartoum State alone.

The authorities in Khartoum State began this morning to implement the decision to impose a complete curfew throughout the day for a period of three weeks, while giving citizens a grace period of several hours to purchase the necessary supplies.

The authorities closed the bridges linking the three Sudanese capital cities, Khartoum, Khartoum North, and Omdurman.
