British community service campaigns that match grandparents and grandchildren shine in the midst of Corona19.
Foreigners, such as ABC in the United States, reported on the 14th that the number of applicants from around the world was gathered by an elderly nursing facility located in London, England, through a campaign called 'Adopt Grandparents'.
Shalijah Hashaham, who was in charge of an exchange project at 'CHD Living', an aged care facility, started the campaign in September of last year. It was to the point that the community was interested in older people living in nursing homes and would like to visit more often.
At first, 130 local residents became 'grandchildren' and actively exchanged with grandmothers and grandfathers. Soon, however, Corona 19 became serious and visitors could no longer visit the facility.
Based on common interests, the facility paired the grandmother and grandfather of the nursing facility with grandchildren around the world, and they were able to ask each other's regards and talk through video calls.
88-year-old Rosie, a British granddaughter who has a granddaughter, Annette, who lives in Hawaii, said, "I am very happy that my granddaughter makes calls every day in Hawaii."
"I want people to experience how valuable the teachings they receive to their grandparents are," said Hasaham. "It was a campaign that was started for the elderly at first, but now it is a very valuable experience for all who participated."
