Real Sociedad announced Sunday that it has given up on plans to resume individual training for its players from Tuesday onwards after discussing it with government officials.

Like the rest of the Spanish clubs, the players of the Spanish club are confined to their homes, while competitions have been interrupted in the country since mid-March due to the pandemic of new coronavirus.

"After today's discussions (Sunday) with the Consejo Superior de Deportes and in accordance with Real Sociedad's desire to respect and act according to the needs of society at all times, we have decided to continue the individual work of our professional players as it has been developed so far. Therefore, the players will continue to do their work at home, "said the Basque team.

Saturday, the Spanish press had echoed the wish expressed by the club to see its players training again from this week at the preparation center of Zubieta.

On Sunday, Real Sociedad insisted that it had never intended to resume group training, but simply to offer the possibility to its players to do "individualized work" in its premises.

The Spanish club said it was "working on developing a return to work" for its players but that it would always be done "while respecting the security measures established by the authorities".

With 166,019 cases and 16,972 deaths according to the latest official figures, Spain is one of the countries most affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
