Monday April 13, Italy deplored 20,465 deaths due to Covid-19, according to the latest report from the Civil Protection, which reports 566 new deaths in 24 hours. Italy therefore remains second in the world among the hardest hit countries, behind the United States.

Despite this disastrous outcome, a note of hope is nevertheless confirmed: the number of intensive care patients is down in the peninsula for the tenth consecutive day. A total of 3,260 people were hospitalized in intensive care units on Monday, compared to 3,343 on Sunday.

The number of new cases is also declining. A total of 159,516 people are infected with the new coronavirus in Italy, which is 3,153 more than on Sunday, compared to 4,092 more the day before. The daily count of new cases thus falls to its lowest level since April 7.

Among those infected, 35,435 are now declared cured, against 34,211 on Sunday.
