The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova called for an extension of the non-working week in Russia, which was announced from March 30 to April 3 by decree of President Vladimir Putin. This will reduce the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19, Popova emphasized. However, she recalled that the incubation period of the disease is 14 days.

“The period of breaking the transmission links should also be a multiple of 14 days. But 14 days is, of course, not enough, these days should have been more, ”Popova quotes TASS.

The head of the department called Putin’s decision on a non-working week “extremely important”, but noted that the termination of restrictive measures threatens a further increase in the incidence in the country.

Popova also said that Russia, unlike a number of countries, manages to restrain the growth rate of the number of infected. According to her, now 85 Russian entities are at different stages of the development of the epidemiological situation. The head of Rospotrebnadzor explained that the absence of explosive growth in the number of cases is explained by the fact that the country takes the necessary measures in a timely manner.

In addition, she said that more than 20% of infected Russians have the disease without symptoms.

“Today, we have a high proportion of people who do not have symptoms, among those whom we have identified as a result of testing. Today, this is just over 20% of all whom we identified have no symptoms, and only 14% have symptoms, a pneumonia clinic and have a severe, moderate to severe course, ”she confirmed.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova also announced the need to extend the measures of social distance, urging them to make decisions based on the situation in each particular region. She recalled that while in ten regions the coronavirus has not been fixed.

“But you can’t relax here, because the number of regions involved in the incidence increases daily by about two,” Golikova added.
