The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the National Accord Government, Mohamed El-Taher Siala, expressed his government's reservations and dissatisfaction with the European Union's decision to ban arms exports to Libya, due to its lack of control over land and air.

Siyala told the country's ambassador to the country in a phone call that applying the decision in this way makes it a matter of accusation. He said that the target of the censorship is the Al-Wefaq government, and that the European operation ignores any control over the armament of the forces of retired Major General Khalifa Hifter.

And Josep Borrell, the European Union’s security and foreign policy chief, announced the launch of a military operation in the name of “IRINI” to monitor the arms embargo on Libya and support the political track.

He explained in a press conference in Brussels that one of the tasks of this military operation is to combat oil smuggling and human trafficking.

For his part, member of the Presidential Council of the Accord Government, Mohamed Amari Zayed, said that tons of weapons and ammunition arrive daily by air to Haftar from the Emirates, via Jordan and Egypt, without any European or international move to stop UAE cargo planes.

Amari said - in press statements to the island - surprised by what he described as the timing of the naval operation announced by the European Union to impose respect for the arms embargo to Libya.

He indicated that it coincided with the Peace Storm operation launched by the Al-Wefaq government to repel the Haftar forces ’attack on Tripoli.

A member of the Presidential Council returned to confirm that the European maritime operation will delay the supply of food and medicine to his country in light of the international crisis.

He concluded his statement that the first is to impose Security Council resolutions and punish countries that violated the arms embargo and involved in arming Haftar.

On the field front, Operation Berkane Fury quoted Libyan army spokesman Mohamed Kanounou as saying that the air defenses of the Al-Wefaq government had brought down an Emirati drone.

Kanounou added in a brief written statement that the projection took place south of the city of Al-Ajilat, located to the west of the capital, Tripoli, about eighty kilometers.
