STS Language Travel has students on courses and programs in 16 different countries, most in the US. But in a short time many schools have now closed their teaching, in many cases indefinitely.

Currently, the company has contact with several hundred Swedish students who want to come home and there are more for each day.

- Most people have a program that includes the flight so we have added extra resources and are working hard at the moment to find good home travel solutions for everyone who wants it, says John Cederoth.

Switched to online education

In many cases, schools that have closed down have switched to online education. Of EF Language Resource's total 54 schools around the world, a handful still have teaching in place, but for most all teaching takes place remotely.

Eduplanet says they have 500-600 students in multi-year university programs. Among them, a large proportion have chosen to continue their studies online from Sweden.

- It works pretty well, but there are some things that are technically difficult to solve. Medical students who have clinical teaching, it is a clear dilemma, says Johan Stenhammar, CEO of Eduplanet.

Have resigned job and apartment

Anders Åkerlund at Avista language trips says that there has been a constant crisis management since the first school closures in Milan. The company also needs to provide advice to the many students who do not go on their travels due to the new restrictions.

- Many people have resigned from jobs and apartments, they have calculated to be gone for half a year or a year. Their plans are erased from one day to another, says Anders Åkerlund.

According to CSN, there are 15,000 Swedes who study with study funding in other countries. Anyone who is affected by schools shutting down due to the corona pandemic is allowed to keep their tuition, regardless of whether the schools offer continued online education or not.
