With the spread of the new coronavirus, Prime Minister Abe called for a thorough countermeasure, such as avoiding crowded places, based on the recommendations of the Experts' Meeting. Based on recommendations from the Experts' Meeting calling for thorough countermeasures against the new coronavirus, Prime Minister Abe told the task force on Tuesday that the number of newly infected people could be reduced by appropriate public actions such as self-restraining large-scale events and closing schools. He noted that while there was a slight decrease, continued efforts could lead to an explosive spread known as "overshoot."
He reminded the people to avoid places where poor ventilation, many people are crowded, and three conditions where short distance conversations etc. are overlapped.
The government continued to respond to large-scale events for which it had requested self-restraint since late last month, taking into account the views of the Experts Meeting and, if appropriate countermeasures against infection could not be taken, canceling the event. We are looking for a prudent response.
