All employees of Olympique de Marseille, including players, will go on short-time working, we learned on Friday from the club.

The players were warned during the day.

A meeting was held Friday afternoon through the Workplace corporate social network to detail the measures.

Employees will receive 84% of their net salary, in accordance with the law.

Professional players have a personalized training program to maintain a certain athletic level during confinement.

All the other employees went on to telework.

Only the members of the executive committee do not technically go into short-time working, but they have all reduced their wages by 16% to align with the others, according to a member of "Comex".

Some employees will also ask for leave and recuperation.

Finally the owner of the club, the American Frank McCourt, sent a message to all the employees, translated into French, which AFP was able to consult.

"I will take a few minutes to make sure you and your families are well," said McCourt, assuring that "we are going through this difficult time together, and we are seeing governments get better and better."

"Companies like ours are taking measures to limit the pandemic," he added, before "emphasizing the importance for each of you to apply the barrier gestures".

McCourt praised the "efforts" of OM employees to "keep moving forward, a strong corporate culture is important, ours is particularly solid", he added, before concluding: "you can count on me. "
