Stéphane Le Foll (PS), mayor of Le Mans. - JF. Monier / AFP

No less than ten lists contested the succession of Stéphane Le Foll (PS), mayor of Le Mans since the death of Jean-Claude Boulard in June 2018. But the former minister of François Hollande ultimately did not have to worry too much in the optics of the second round. Stéphane Le Foll turns largely in the lead this Sunday evening with 42% of the votes. He will be opposed to his former socialist assistant Marietta Karamanli (13.3%).

The environmental candidate Isabelle Sévère fails at the gates of the second round (9.98%). Emmanuel Bilquez, the candidate of the Republicans, is fourth with 8.5% of the vote. The right will therefore not pass the stage of the first lap at Le Mans.
