“Due to the widespread spread of the new corona virus and the rapidly changing and uncertain situation that exists for travelers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against unnecessary travel to all countries. In countries or areas where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has previously advised against travel, these decisions apply, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs writes in a press release.

The advice is valid until April 14 and thereafter a new assessment will be made.

- It's an exceptional situation. We want to send a message that it is not a place to be, says Sofia Carlberg, Head of Communications at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to SVT News.

She urges travelers who have already booked a trip to contact their travel company.

“I understand the frustration many feel about the uncertainty and set travel plans. Or the Swedes who are abroad and are worried about the situation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is working hard to provide support, ”writes Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde (S) on Facebook.

The travel company TUI cancels all flights four weeks ahead, they tell SVT News. Those who have already booked a ticket will have the opportunity to re-book or cancel their trip.
