The head of state wrote about this on his Twitter.
Compatriotas, ¡a cumplir con las nuevas medidas !:
1. Prohibición de ingreso de extranjeros al país, desde el 16 de marzo, y de ecuatorianos y residentes, desde el 17.
2. Prohibición de eventos masivos, incluidos los de Semana Santa.
“A ban is established on the entry of foreigners into the country starting March 16,” the president wrote.
He clarified that for Ecuadorians the ban will begin to apply on March 17.
Earlier, Colombian President Ivan Duque said his country was closing the border with Venezuela because of the threat of the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19.
