Schools must ensure distance teaching continuity during the coronavirus pandemic. Jean-Michel Blanquer, the Minister of National Education explained on Sunday what measures were going to be taken so that this could take place throughout the territory.

Children are not on vacation, this is the meaning of the remarks made Saturday by Jean-Michel Blanquer after the closure of all schools due to the coronavirus, announced by Emmanuel Macron on Thursday. The Minister of National Education sees this unprecedented situation as an opportunity to redefine the relationships between parents, students and teachers and specifies that distance education will be based on two pillars.

"Two pillars" of distance education

Jean-Michel Blanquer first recalls that "schools and establishments are open as buildings with educational teams to provide families with information by telephone and electronically", which constitutes the first pillar. "The second pillar is distance education which is provided by the teachers. They can use their digital resources to carry out their teaching: website, email, digital working environment and the site my classroom at home. CNED ".

My class at home to ensure educational continuity

The National Center for Distance Education provides resources so that children can continue to work: cards, memo, exercises from the large section from kindergarten to 12th grade. The precise codes and internet addresses for connecting to the deployed platform will be communicated by the teachers.

The minister also announced that children of hospital staff will be received in their regular schools on Monday. They will be grouped by class from eight to ten maximum to limit the risk of contagion. Regarding the end-of-year exams, starting with the baccalaureate, several scenarios are on the table but it is still too early to consider them, according to the Minister of National Education.
